Abstract
El abuelo (The Grandfather) is a cycle of nine poems by Jorge R. G. Sagastume. The following is the first poem in the cycle:
El abuelo
deja que su nieta descanse
la cabecita sobre su hombro
siente el cariño de la niña,
y piensa en el amor.
Cree que, posiblemente,
un criatura brinda lo que jamás
ningún adulto podrá.
Y se dice: quizá el amor no sea
para los adultos.
The grandfather
lets his granddaughter rest
the head on his shoulder
feels the love of the girl,
and think of love.
He believes that, possibly,
a creature provides what
no adult canever do.
And it is said: maybe love is not
for adults.
