Venezuela: The Politics of Barricades
In this lecture, Javier Corrales (Amherst College) seeks to explain why Venezuela, the country that has experienced the most spectacular economic windfall in Latin America from 2003 to 2011, is today in one of the worst political crises in the region and one of the worst economic crises in the world. Corrales confronts the question of how “new” is the “new Venezuela” after Hugo Chavez.
